10 Days In Thailand

I write this blog in Bangkok airport café awaiting a flight that leaves 5 hours from now. I realise it is insane to wait this long for a flight, but in the 3rd world, if you want to guarantee that you’ll make a connecting international flight, you better have time to spare.

Oh my God, airport tilt – no way. I was refused a ticket to Manila because I didn’t have proof of a flight exiting Manila. The only way I was getting on this plane was to find an internet connection in the next 20 minutes and dig up the confirmation e-mail from Qantas. Under pressure I perform like a machine and I was able to slice my way through all the bullshit and stupidity of the lady at the Internet shop to get the job done. I almost got a round of applause from the audience which had gathered around me. I took a bow and made my exit.

So where was I?

I just spent the last ten days on the Thai island of Koh Samui with my good friend Toby and his lovely wife ‘Nice’. The perfect holiday for me is to not have any plans or schedules. Also, (if need be) the occasional 14 hour online poker session to tilt off a tonne of cash. To do it any other way wouldn’t seem right. When I wasn’t playing, I was sitting under a tree watching the elephant, playing with the monkey or eating at the many awesome Thai restaurants.
