Oompa Lumpur

I arrived in Kuala Lumpur last night for Chucky’s birthday party. The lack of traffic and cleanliness of the city gave me a great first impression. After further investigation into the city, I noticed the high rises and prices.

I went into a store today to buy earplugs to help me sleep and they wanted $4 for 4 earplugs. I’ve been around the world and have never been hit up for so much for four cylinders of foam. Another thing I’ve noticed on my worldly travels is the international hotel code for ‘do not disturb’ means knock on the door and scream “house keeping.” This has happened to me at every hotel I’ve stayed at around the world and I give the same response every time.

Cleaner: House keeping!! knock knock knock, House keeping!! knock knock knock
Jethro: No response…zzzzzzz….
Cleaner: Uses master key to get in.
Jethro: Screams
An hour later a phone call wakes up our hero. A very drowsey, angry Jethro picks up.
Jethro: Grunt
Cleaner: Sir, do you want your room cleaned?
Jethro: You’ve got to be kidding.
Cleaner: Sir, do you want your room cleaned?
Jethro: Do not disturb!! Do not disturb!! Do not disturb!!
Cleaner: Huh?
Jethro: Do not disturb!! Do not disturb!! Do not disturb!!
Cleaner: So, did you want your room cleaned?
Jethro: Hangs up phone.

One day I will open my own hotel and I will smash all other hotels because I will make sure that if someone has that sacred button lit or that wonderful piece of paper hanging from their door, they will not be disturbed. The business model will revolve around this notion and I will be the richest man in the world.

Another thing I want to change on this planet is a crime committed by just about every poker blogger. Bloggers like to write ‘I won x amount of dollars in x amount of time’… What is the next line? You must know it. It is the most common poker Cliché in the world…. “Not a bad hourly rate” followed by smiley face or ‘LOL’ or both.

Going to Chucky’s birthday party tonight. Happy Birthday Mate!
